But when a community sewing class ends in chaos and Geraldine Thornfield—a demanding, drama-prone local—suddenly collapses, suspicion stitches itself right into the Garnetts’ lives.
The sisters quickly become the talk of the town, and Violet Garnett, whose fiery temper boiled over in a public argument with Geraldine just moments before, becomes the prime suspect.
As whispers turn to side-eyes and the pressure mounts, Iris finds herself caught between protecting her sister and maintaining a fragile peace with Mayor Carter Ross—her high school sweetheart, now newly married, whose presence stirs up more than just old memories.

Swanson Manor, a once-grand estate with a troubled legacy, is being transformed into an upscale hotel and spa by the ever-ambitious Eloise Ashmore. With her longtime rival Regina Holloway watching for cracks in her success, the stakes are sky-high. Enter the Garnett sisters—Black, brilliant, and bound by both blood and magic—hired to breathe new life into the manor’s interiors.
But before the grand reopening, a violent supernatural storm crashes through the property, unearthing more than old floorboards. Rue Garnett discovers an enchanted diary and a gemstone humming with untamed power, triggering a series of eerie events that hint at a powerful force tethered to the manor’s past. As the town prepares for a sprawling reenactment, the Risen Regiment slips in unnoticed, mistaken for actors instead of the undead. While Iris and Violet work to trace the magic that brought them back, Rue finds herself walking a delicate line—protecting the truth, guiding the dead, and navigating an unexpected spark with Michael Semana, a brilliant history grad student whose questions hit too close to home.
